Welcome to

Dear clients,

Due to the current risks associated with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, effective immediately, MMPP will be implementing procedures to respond to guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, the Australian Government, Medicare, and the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

In the interest of managing the risk of infection and transmission of the virus towards our clients, and our staff, we would ask that you please read the following, as these changes may affect your appointments with your psychologist.

1) If you think that you may be suffering with symptoms of COVID-19, or if you think that you have been in contact with someone who may be suffering with symptoms of COVID-19, we direct your attention to the Australian Government Department of Health COVID-19 medical advice page: https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov. Here you will find up-to-date health alerts, medical advice, and a list of symptoms;

2) If you have a current diagnosis of COVID-19, have been medically ordered to self-isolate, undergoing testing for COVID-19, and/or if you are knowingly more susceptible to COVID-19 (over 70yo, over 50yo for ATSI, are pregnant, have children under 12m, or are knowingly immune-compromised), we ask that you advise our Practice via phone call (where possible, 2-business-days prior to your scheduled appointment);

3)If you fall into any of the above, in the interest of avoiding exposure to others, we ask that you do not attend the Practice;

4)We have in place, a COVID-19 contingency plan, which enables you to continue to receive your scheduled psychological services via phone and/or video conferencing methods. As of Monday 30 March 2020, MMPP transitioned exclusively (in most cases) to video/teleconferencing sessions with our clients. This policy will be in place over the next period of time, as guided by the Australian Government. In exceptional circumstances, as assess by the treating psychologist and Directors, we may conduct face-to-face sessions with our clients at our Practice premises, following appropriate screening of health and psychological needs of our clients, and agreement between MMPP and our clients. We are relying on our clients and staff to communicate concerns and potential risks in order that we can make decisions regarding the most appropriate, and uninterrupted method of service delivery to you;

5)If you believe that you are not affected by COVID-19, we ask that you exercise safe health and hygiene procedures when attending the Practice (such as appropriate hand-washing, avoiding hand-shaking or other physical contact, covering your mouth/nose if coughing or sneezing, etc.), and comply with the Government's guidelines on social distancing;

6)We acknowledge that, for many of our clients, these recent events may be causing heightened anxiety and/or stress. For this reason, we refer you to the "Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information and Resources" web page: https://www.psychology.org.au/COVID-19, which is an official APS reference, and provides an information tip sheet on how to cope with COVID-19 anxiety (under the subheading "Resources for the Public", click on the "View information sheet" link.

It is our hope for all of our clients that you and your loved ones stay well during this time. We are confident that, if we all do our part, and follow government medical guidelines, that there will be little disruption to your psychological treatment.

Take care and stay well.

Directors Adrian and Kerrie Lumbewe, and the MMPP team.
